I took Ryan’s high school senior portraits four years ago (which feels like just last week) so it was fun seeing him again last week as he was about to graduate from Colorado School of Mines in Golden. He is getting his degree in mechanical engineering and might go onto graduate school in aerospace. He is a very smart, kind, young man. His mom and dad joined in for a few quick photos too.
We met on the college campus at sunset. Mines has a few different traditions. The graduates get cowboy hats to wear during their graduation ceremony. The school also takes all of the freshman up the mountain behind the school to bring a rock to form the letter “M” on the side of the mountain. Then, when they are seniors, they go up and take a white rock with them as a reminder of their school journey.
