Let’s explore the best time of year to book your Littleton family photographer in Colorado throughout the seasons to ensure stunning photos.
If you are thinking about booking a photo session, you might be wondering when you should book it for. There are pros and cons to getting your photos done in every season. Here are my personal thoughts on the best months to get your photos taken in Colorado.
January and February—If you are wanting snow photos, these are great months for those! January and February are also usually my least busy months so you will have your choice on dates and times to meet. If you have little kids and your worry that they will be too cold for a full session, I do offer 20-minute mini sessions at a park near my home in Littleton.
March—Since we live in Colorado, the weather is still usually still cold and wet during March. I wish things were starting to bloom here by March, but it is usually still pretty dead. This time of year is probably a great time to get urban photos done since it doesn’t involve nature. It is also a great time to get photos at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison because daily concerts don’t start up until April. That means that the park is easily accessible for photo sessions. 
April and May—These are great months to capture the pretty pink and white crab apple trees that bloom around Denver. I know of 2 or 3 great spots to get these pretty blooms. They don’t last long (only 1-2 weeks), but they are so pretty and just scream “SPRING!” These months are also a great time to book “Mommy and Me” sessions as a perfect Mother’s Day gift! And, don’t forget to book a cap and gown mini session if you have a graduating high school or college senior!
June, July, and August—These are probably my favorite months to get photos. The weather is warm, everything is green, and the light is gorgeous. Sometimes we get summer afternoon rainstorms, but they usually pass quickly. Then we can end up with GORGEOUS sunsets. 
September and October—Fall in Colorado is so pretty! These two months are by far my busiest. Between senior portrait sessions and family photos, I am booked solid in September and October. Everyone else in Colorado is also wanting family photos so we will be guaranteed to see lots of other photographers and families at 90% of the locations we go to in the Denver metro area. But the trees are so pretty that it is worth the busyness! 
November and December—These can be tough months for photos for several reasons. The weather has taken a nosedive, the trees are bare, and the holidays are approaching. People can be stressed about getting their photos in time for holiday cards. If we meet during one of these months, I suggest either an urban session or a spot with a lot of pine trees since the other trees are just brown sticks. A big pro for these months is that November and December are a great time for extended family photos since some out-of-town relatives will be visiting for the holidays! I am a very sentimental person, so extended family sessions are close to my heart and I love doing them!
