Colorado usually has fairly mild winters. Yes, we get snow and it gets cold, but we also have sunshine 300 days a year. This last weekend, though, the polar vortex pushed through the United States and brought below freezing temperatures for several days in a row. It just so happens that the Rambis family was visiting from Florida and caught our sub-zero weather. Thankfully for me they still wanted family photos and contacted me on Saturday afternoon to meet for a family photo session that evening. I brought along hand warmers for all of us and they wore scarves and heavy coats. The three boys did FANTASTIC and we captured over 50 final, edited images in about 30 minutes!
I was a bit nervous at first that my camera and batteries would freeze up in these below zero temps so I brought back-ups of everything. I was so pleasantly surprised that my gear worked fantastic in the snow and cold. Yay Canon!
Here are some of my favorite shots from Saturday afternoon at Mt. Falcon park. We had the whole place to ourselves. Didn’t Brandy do a great job of coordinating the family? I love their blue vests!
